Southern Utility Services, Inc., manufactures panel adapters for all types of socket meters. A panel socket adapter is a low cost way of converting an antiquated switchboard meter to a socket metering system. The SUSI family of panel adapters converts any standard socket meter into a small case or large case switchboard meter, thus eliminating the need to stock or maintain more than one type of metering package.  Panel adapters are more convenient, simplifying maintenance, testing, training, inventory and turn-around time. When using panel adapters, initial and recurring metering costs are reduced, as are ongoing maintenance costs.

These unique products also allow the flexibility to change meters or switch meter manufacturers for new or existing applications. The products are easy to install, with threaded mounting holes for new or retrofit applications. SUSI offers a complete family of panel adapters, which will handle virtually

all new or existing meter panel applications. The two main types of panel adapters are Surface Mount and Flush Mount.  There are a number of options such as a cover, large case plates, test switch and plate, KYZ and Aux power.

SUSI also announces a new improved Surface Mount Panel Adapter. The Surface Mount Panel Adapter allows the user to install any standard socket meter from the front of the panel, positioning the entire meter on the front side of the panel, making installations or removal of the meter very easy. The adapter requires no changes to the substation steel panel or its existing cut-out for installation and can be easily installed in place of the existing small case panel meter using the pre-existing mounting holes. The new version of SUSI’s Surface Mount Panel Adapter is stiffer, to prevent flexing during meter installation. A new cable cutout in back allows easier cable feeding through the adapter.  The back has been modified for greater ease in wiring, and the depth has been reduced by two inches.

SUSI also announces a new "adjustable length" Flush Mount Panel Adapter. This innovative feature allows the customer to decide which length is best at the time of installation. Customers previously had to estimate the necessary length when ordering, which sometimes resulted in less than ideal installations due to meter lengths and customer mechanical preferences. The new Flush Mount Adapter has ten field-selectable lengths, thus eliminating the guesswork and helping the customer to order the

best part the first time around. The adjustable adapter is a stock item, which will shorten delivery lead times also.
